INTRODUCTION

After a successful project with CAN Europe, EBN got in touch with us to develop the brand of an innovative climate change project called PentaHelix. The aim was to empower authorities across the EU to implement climate action plans and sustainable energy.

PentaHelix project aims to empower local and regional authorities to find innovative and cost effective approaches to develop, finance, implement and improve sustainable energy and climate action plans (SECAP) that contribute to reaching national and European climate and energy goals and policies.

It's been very exciting working on such a worthwhile project spanning so many countries across the European Union

BRANDING

When we got involved in the project there were already strong visual ideas based around the connection of the five stakeholder groups; Public Authorities, Industry, Academia, NGOs and Citizens. A pentagon was the favoured way of representing this concept in a visual form, our job was to turn these ideas into an impacting but timeless brand that would engage a wide audience across the EU.

After consultations to define the project goals and target audiences we designed several design concepts. The pentagon with dynamic interlocking shapes was the obvious choice as it perfectly represented the five groups and their connectivity in reaching climate and energy goals.

We then continued developing the brand and a guidelines to allow for consistent brand roll-out in the future. Because the project was based on efforts to preserve the Earth's climate we settled on a natural colour palette of greens and blues.
